Plastic Free Forever
Published 1 July 2020
Plastic-free living. Forever.
We're not going to bombard you with statistics on the global plastic problem.
The point is that it's bad. Very bad.
Here are some things to help you go plastic-free forever ...
Make a list of all the products you purchase that contain plastic. Research alternatives for the ones you need, don't replace the ones don't need.
Stick a piece of paper to your fridge and write down all the things you bought that you probably didn't need to buy.
Don't put your recycling out for the whole of July. Then do your own recycling waste audit. This is a horrifying, yet enlightening activity.
Join a beach clean-up committee OR commit to picking up a minimum of five bits of rubbish each day.
Be a conscious consumer. Only replace what needs to replaced, and if you must replace it - replace it with something sustainable.
Our top sustainable tips:
Say goodbye to cling film/plastic wrap and grab yourself a Snaxpax food saver wrap
Add yourself to our life-hacks zero-waste DIY workshops mailing list (you will be first to know about our up and coming workshops)
Invest in reusable sanitary products. According to Wā Collective, NZ sends 375 million disposable tampons and pads to the landfill every year. Do you know how many clog up our drains and waterways? Yeah.. neither.
Don't be a food waste fool, composting is cool. Get yourself a Bokashi Compost Bin.
That's all from us for now. Keep an eye on our Facebook Page as we blast you with tips throughout July.
