Culture
Culture
We’ve got a real party pack of people at the Trust, with everyone at different stages of their sustainability journey. As an organisation, we believe that demonstrating positive behaviour change can play a part in changing societal behaviour.
This is why we’re making being sustainable super easy at the Trust.
Here’s how we’re embedding a culture of sustainability across the organisation.
First up, we made improving our sustainability practices a part of our day-to-day activities. For us, it carries as much weight as our Health and Safety and Code of Conduct protocols. Some would say that it’s in the air we breathe.
Next up, we have a loud and proud Green Team, including our Sustainability Manager who are backed by our Senior Leadership Team. This in-house army of good sorts is made up of representatives from across the organisation which puts them in a strong position to tackle sustainability from all corners of the Trust.
Our World-Class Green Team
To make things easier for our staff, all staff get:
heavily discounted e-waste recycling.
interest-free loans to purchase e-bikes and heat pumps.
access to an Again Again and Reusabowl bank.
Where we can’t design out waste, we provide comprehensive recycling. We have:
a full set of Method Bins in our kitchen for easy sorting of glass, paper, cardboard, plastic & cans and soft plastics.
a worm farm and compost collection point for all staff to dispose of their food scraps.
a clear plastic film collection for the packaging from our insulation – we worked with Mammoth so they provide packaging without printing so it can be collected commercially.
metal recycling for our commercial operations, but we encourage staff to bring their metals in too.
our electrical team are qualified to degas heat pumps. This gas is collected and disposed of responsibly. All metal and copper is sent to Macaulay Metals for recycling.
Also, Whenever someone new joins the team we ask them to sign our Sustainability Policy Statement.
Last up, staff well-being plays a huge role in helping us achieve our sustainability goals. This is why we offer free EAP. We also encourage active transport to work and have a shower and bike racks for staff to use. Happy and healthy staff equals a happy and healthy organisation.
